New Tricks for your Lips

Aug 11 2016

Fresh from Mail Online this past week, comes an article discussing “Hot tips for lips” with recommendations from the world’s leading make-up artists and Hollywood stylists. Always on the forefront of fashion, Omolewa is here to give you our spin on hot tips for lips this summer!

Choose a bold color:

Celebrity Makeup artist James Kaliardos recommends wearing a bright lipstick, preferably a pink, red, or coral. Omolewa recommends trying our bright red Geranium lip stick or our perfectly pink Flirty shade. Not into bright reds or pinks? Perhaps try the slightly muted Matador Red. Think your days of wearing bright reds are long behind you? Not according to Charlotte Willer, Maybelline New York’s global makeup artist, who recommends bold reds for older women saying, “The older you are, the bolder the colour should be. As you age, your natural lip lines fade — so make sure you don’t go all the way to the edges of your mouth with lip color, to avoid bleeding.”

Tone it down:

Are you still nervous about rocking a bright lip? Never fear! Omolewa has you covered with our Mattifier powder-gel. Just dab a little on after applying lipstick, lip gloss, or lip crème for a matte effect. If you’re looking for a slightly less dramatic but still colorful lip shade, try any one of our Lip Glosses for a shiny pop of color! Some of our recommended colors for summer are: the cotton-candy-pink Glaze, the rosy Throb, or the rockin’-red Fabulous. Also, try any one of our Lip Luster gels for an increased sparkle-shine effect, plus the lip nourishing benefits of Shea Butter.

Make it Last:

Want a lip color that can keep up better than a Kardashian? Always remember to apply our lip and eye primer before using any of our lip products for a longer-lasting wear. Also, try one of our funky Opaque Lip Crèmes for the bold effect of a lip stick, the hold of a lip stain, and the creamy smoothness of a lip balm!

Try Purple:

Think purple lip stick is only for the adventurous types, like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga? Not so! Slice recommends these four tips to help pull off a purple lip.

Keep the rest of your makeup minimal and your hair simple. The purple lip should be the most prominent feature on your face.
Try a matte purple lip stick or a lip stain. Omolewa recommends our Opaque Lip Crème in Lily Boo or Bombshell or our Lip Stick in PurPink
If you want to make your purple lip stand out a little more or look multidimensional, dab a little bit of white eye shadow or clear lip gloss in your inner lip. Try with Omolewa’s new Luminous Lip Glass for a nice glossy effect. If you’re feeling even fiercer, spread the gloss evenly throughout the lip to create a more dramatic glossy purple lip.
Try a two tone lip. In the photo below we mixed Omolewa’s the purple Bombshell Opaque Lip Crème with the pink Hot Topic Lip Crème for a purple-pink ombré lip effect.
